Wisconsin’s Officer Murphy IS A HERO AND SHOULD BE FOLLOWED

Wisconsin’s Officer Murphy who was shot 15 times is a hero because he saved lives and should be followed. We must fight religious and racial hatred in America wherever it is found.

God loves Officer Murphy. Despite being shot 15 times, he lives. He was protected for a reason. He protected people being attacked by a white supremacist.

There is an old slave saying: If they come for me today, they will come for you tomorrow. This is a time when the President of the United States has as his close advisor,  a member of the Alt-Right which expresses white nationalist or supremacist and separatist views. Throughout the campaign, there were rants of racial and religious intolerance   evidence by statements of intent to ban muslims and too much political correctness.. Thus,  we have seen an escalation in threats on Muslim and Jewish Centers. These threats cannot be tolerated. Religious and racial hatred of any group cannot be tolerated.

When I hear of threats on Jewish Centers or Muslim Mosques, I want to scream. I remember the threats on Black churches and Blacks in general. They came for us. Now they are coming for others. We must stop them. We must not tolerate threats to anyone because of their race or religion.

Officer Murphy did his job when he answered the call to the Mosque. God protected him because he did his job. He saved the people of the mosque as he took bullets intended for them. He saved their lives. We should commend him. We must speak out against this type of intolerance of difference- especially religious differences. Officer Murphy is one of the good police officers. He now is aware of the threats to religious groups and is concerned for their safety. We should all be concerned about the safety of those in Jewish Centers and Mosques who are being threatened at this time.

The approach of the religious community in supporting a Jewish Synagogue that was threatened in Houstonwas good. We should continue this non-denominational support. We are our brother’s keeper. We should not be silent in condemning these threats whenever we hear them and offering support to the threatened. Officer Murphy is a hero in that he saved lives in protecting the people of the mosque from the threat of a white supremacist. We should not normalize these racist groups. President Trump threatened to have the funds of a college cut because of protest of one of these racist persons at a University in California. We should speak out against this support of these racist groups and persons. Religious and racial intolerance should not be supported by anyone especially the President of the United States of America. We should not normalize racial or religious hatred.

We should praise Officer Murphy. He is a hero and should be praised and supported. He is right to be concerned about the continuing threat to Mosques and Synagogues. All America should be concerned and supportive to all religious groups in America. We must condemn religious and racial intolerance.
