TWO BLACK MEN AND HILLARY CLINTON

I had a conversation about Hillary Clinton with two Black men in church and in my bank in the last week that I thought were worth reporting. Some Black men support Hillary Clinton for different reasons.

The first man was from Washington D.C. He readily told me that he was voting for Hillary Clinton because she was the best Clinton. He praised her for her public service over the years. He reported that she could have worked for law firms. She learned her lesson after the Rose Law Firm experience. He respected the way she has handled criticism and acknowledges her faults. He feels she could have admitted using a private server was a mistake earlier. He feels the law changing about servers and emails may have been designed to use against her. He was effusive in his praise of her about her work and experience. He feels she learns from her mistakes. “She does not give up. She is battle tested. Touch her and her skin is callused because of the blows and criticisms she has taken over the years. She will sleep with a snake to get a result. She will fight for us and will accomplish more than her husband ever did because she has a good heart. She cares about people and will try to do good if she can. We cannot forget how well we did under Bill Clinton and how he began to balance the budget. Bill put an office in New York and it helped the community. ”

“What about the trust issue?” I asked.

“Everybody lies about something. Has she ever been indicted for a crime or harmed anyone? Her life work has been about service and helping others. How can anyone criticize that? The notion that she would have done something to harm her friends in Benghazi is ridiculous. Were any of her emails leaked when she was in office. We are publishing her emails not a hacker. People need to stop this nonsense. I am voting Hillary all the way.”

The second person who talked to me about Hillary was a minister from Detroit. He is supporting Clinton.

“Hillary is my girl. I am sick of the critics picking on her all the time. She is at least trying to do something. She listens and tries to change. This is what I like about her. She will try to get things accomplished. She and Sanders at least talked about the issues that matter to people.  I am going for Hillary all the way. Bill Clinton was not a bad president. She will be better. She has a good heart. She tries to do good. This is what matters to me. The only thing I am concerned with are her ideas about regime change in other countries. We should have learned our lesson in Vietnam and Iraq. This is the only problem I have with her. I hope she has learned her lesson about this. I am still going to support her. Black people have to consider the U.S. Supreme Court. ”

I decided to report these response after some negative posts from a Black minister this week. All Black men do not share that minister’s view of Hillary Clinton. My own personal views are under construction. I loved her Mental Health Plan. It is well thought out and current. The new studies on the brain and stem cell therapy are cutting edge. I like the way she is thinking.  I admire her toughness and perseverance. She is a good role model for girls and women. She is not perfect. Only Jesus was without sin and perfect. We should try to remember this. I wish her well.
