THE ESSENCE OF ROSE-STOLEN

 In Uncategorized

Someone stole my essence of Rose. This was my essence of Rose Broady who was a lifelong friend.

There is a concept in Black families that when someone dies, you should get something of theirs that is special to you to remind you of them. You should keep this something in your home to represent the essence of the person and your relationship. Rose’s family gave me her record collection of jazz and early Motown hits in 45’s. Someone burglarized my home and stole all of the records and the case they were stored in.

They initially stole a portion of the records and came back and stole the entire collection including early Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin and other Motown stars and all of my jazz collection. Rose and I used to listen to this music while sipping wine. It would have reminded me of Rose to have this music collection. Rose was such a special person in my life. I loved her so much. I miss her. I no longer even have the Essence of Rose because someone stole it. They did not know what it meant to me to lose my Essence of Rose. The loss hurts. The pain of loss is almost unbearable. This is one of the reasons that I have decided to move. I believe I know the thieves and they are still on the property. The only thing that I am sure of is that I miss my Rose Broady and the Essence of Rose that was stolen.
