TAX REFORM—–SOME THOUGHTS
President Kennedy said: “Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.” Trump never heard this statement evidenced by the Tax Reform that was recently announced. Trump has been showing us who he is. The tax reform proposal shows us that Trump with his refusal to show his taxes, bragging about how smart he was to avoid paying taxes for twenty years, and massive tax cuts for the rich is another Ronald Reagan with trickle down economics. It did not work for Reagan and it will not work for Trump. Trump wants to line his own pockets. This tax reform is for the rich and greedy.
Trump and his buddies have been about the deconstruction of Democracy as we know it. Trump has been acting like a spoiled rich kid since he has been in the White House evidenced by his taking vacations weekly at the tax payer’s expense, using the state department to advertise his hotels and properties, ruthlessless reversing all of Presidents Obama’s measures to protect the environment and other national interests, making attacks on the environment and encouraging the same for others. He is showing us who and what he is. There does not appear to be much at the core of Trump except greed for him and his family.
The initial tax proposal uses bullets and is not a bill or a proposal with any type of frame that can be measured because it is not operationalized or created in any way that will be accepted. It shows how incompetent Trump is and how unprepared he was to be president. The Presidency of the United States is not an “office for the rich to monetize his interprise.” Trump started as a reality show actor and he does not know how to be anything else. He does not realize that he is president yet and his words and actions have consequences. He thinks he is running a campaign for the Alt-Right who live in an altered reality and want to return to the fifties when things were allegedly separate but equal. They read “fake new” and create the same. What is sad is that there are people out there who do not think and believe this approach without any type of moral compass is good. They encourage dropping bombs instead of diplomacy without accepting the consequences of the end of civilization as we know it if this type of action goes to its fullest fruition. This tax reform appears to be in that same direction. It has little or no thought except how much the rich and greedy can gain.
We are in a precarious time because we do not have Ted Kennedy and well known democrats to save the Republicans as they did in Reagan’s time. Trump is more toxic and repugnant than Reagan. There appears to be no character, moral compasses or strength to do what is right for the country on the part of the Republicans. They are hypocrites who do not want to follow rules or the United States Constitution. They appear to have not heard of the United States Constitution.
It is time for the American people to stand up and let congress and Trump know that we oppose the President’s tax reform. It is a deficit builder. The economy grew in this country when Clinton raised taxes. We made more money and had money to spend. Corporations have shown us that profits will not be shared with the many. They more they have, the more they want. This tax reform is a money grab by the rich. Donald Trump is showing us who he is and he is showing us that he is who he said he was the first time. We need to start believing him. Trump is the most corrupt President in this country’s history.
