REPUBLICANS WANT TO BE THE EXCEPTION TO THE RULE FOR ETHICS AND THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION
Republicans do not want the rules of ethics and the United States Constitution to apply to their actions and the Republican Party. They want to be the exception to the rule for following the Rules of Ethics for Congress and the United States Constitution.
The first thing the Republicans did or tried to do in their new session in 2017 was to try to disable the ethics watchdog for congress of all power and eliminate or remove its power to report or publish its results. Congress or the Republicans do not want the rules of ethics to apply to their actions. The Republicans then threatened the Ethics Watchdog for the executive office. They do not want the Ethics Watchdog to apply its rules to the Republicans entering office including the President. Republicans are demonstrating and have been demonstrating for some time that they do not believe in the United States Constitution and do not want it to apply to Republican conduct evidenced by their attack on the judiciary system.
First, they systematically refused to allow President Obama to appoint federal judges and a Supreme Court Justice in his last year in office. This was unprecedented. They would not even conduct hearings on his nominations. President George W. Bush appointed one hundred twenty two judges during his presidency. President Obama was allowed to appoint only twenty two judges in his eight years and no justices in his last year. This affected the functioning of the federal courts and the United States Supreme Court.
Republicans have taken the position that United States Constitution should not apply to Republicans and their actions when they are in control. Republicans disregard the effects their conduct is having on the country and the judiciary. As a result, the courts are now overloaded and people are not able to obtain fair trials and meaningful appeals of their cases. Republicans argue that they cannot be concerned about the country and its citizens. They are only concerned about their interests and abusing their power because they are now in the majority. Sequestration has affected the military.
Republicans do not want the United States Constitution to apply to their party and its actions. They want the exceptions to following the constitution to apply to the President of the United States of America and his staff. We now have a situation such that when the President takes office, he is automatically in an impeachable position based on his conflicts of interest. He is unfit to be President based on these conflicts. The argument of the Republicans is that they are in power and they should rule absolutely. The Constitution of the Unites States should not apply to the actions of Republicans when they are in power. They have forgotten one thing: Democracy belongs to the people. The checks and balances of the forefathers was put in place to provide transition of power which creates balance. Republicans want to disrupt this balance set by forefathers. The American people should watch the Republicans carefully and then remind them in the next election why the forefathers put in checks and balances. The system breaks down when we disrupt the natural flow. We should remind the Republicans that they may disregard ethics and the United States Constitution, but they must not forget the American people and their needs. The American people will remember them in the next election. Congress was elected to serve the American people. Congress disregards this at their peril.
