SO PROUD OF THE NBA, NFL ON RACE

I am so proud of the NBA and NFL on the issue of race.

The NBA was challenged when the owner of an NBA team verbalized racist comments about players. Players all over the league indicated that would not play for this team with him as the owner.  They would not tolerate this kind of speech from an owner. The league supported the players. A new owner was selected.  The players and the league were supported.

The NFL is under attack now after the way Kaepernick appears to be being blackballed for his position about police brutality and injustice in America. Even the President is stepping in and saying players should be denied free speech and any player who protests by taking a knee during the National Anthem or anything else should be fired. He does not have a problem with the Klu Klux Klan and white supremacist being allowed free speech and to march in public. The Klu Klux Klan is a known domestic terrorist group who historically murdered, raped and lynched, bombed black schools and churches and black people for no reason. He wants prisoners to be abused when they are arrested and feels police procedure should not be followed in arrests. I was proud of the response of Goodell to the President. I do not always agree with Goodell but I support this position. This kind of divisive speech should not be tolerated. A President of the United States of America should not even be making such speech. It is so divisive. Love and tolerance can be taught just as easily as hate and intolerance. Some things in America need to change. Change can be good. President Trump forgot that he was elected President of the United States of America. He represents all Americans. He can encourage Americans to be their best or he can encourage them to seek the dark side at every turn. We can strive to be our best selves or seek down under. It is sad where he expresses his anger and encourages the average citizen to go. He even criticized our American Hero, John McCain. I am proud of McCain’s response to him and to the dark side when he ran for office.  McCain has always been a man of integrity. We can all be proud of him even if Trump is not.

The NFL and NBA should be supported in their response to Trump. People have opinions and are entitled to express them. We will always watch the Superbowl and NBA Finals. We will not always listen to Trump.
