THE NEED TO PRIORITIZE AND MULTITASK IS AT A PREMIUM NOW
Democrats need to prioritize and multitask in order not to become fatigued by the assault of American rights and valued of a democratic society being challenged by executive orders. We must meet this challenge on all fronts in order to protect the new challenges to democracy.
I have long felt that Trump is the dog who caught the bus and now he does not know what to do. As a result, he is throwing everything at the wall and hoping that something sticks. He is not prepared to be President of the United States. Reasonable people tuned him out early in the campaign. We prayed he would not be elected. He was supported by the ALT-Right, a white nationalist group that espoused white supremacy and separatist views. This ALT-Right group verbalized an intent to bring the bureaucracy down. They wanted to destroy our democracy and constitutional form of government. We see it played out on the Congressional rules and open flaunting of the United States Constitution. Congress recently changed the rules such that corporations do not have to disclose the funds they give to foreign countries. Trump has all of his resources in corporate form. Thus he can now hide all of his contributions to foreign corporations as well. The rule indicates the nondisclosure applies only to oil companies. We do not know Trumps baseline before becoming president. Thus he can hide his gifts and contributions through the corporate form. He is not above the law and the first President who has been allowed to flaunt the constitution. The President and almost none of his cabinet meet Article One of the United States Constitution. They want exceptions and waivers to the constitution regarding qualifications for their positions. We can make so many exceptions that the constitution does not apply anymore. I was in a store the other day and a white female bragged to me that the constitution does not apply to Donald Trump. “That rule about income taxes and conflicts does not apply to Trump. He can do whatever he wants,” she said.
President Trump himself has never met the qualifications for the office of president. He has never disclosed his conflicts or resolved them satisfactorily. Now Republicans are changing the rules and allowing the president to bully congress. Donald Trump wants to control our democracy. He wants to destroy its democratic form. He does not respect our laws or the constitution evidenced by his threat to withdraw federal funds from U.C. Berkeley for protesting a speech by an ALT-Right Nationalist white speaker. This is like having the president in 1968 demand that the KluKlux Klan be allowed to speak on college campuses. This action violates the United States Constitution. It violates free speech and the right to assemble and protest. This is what democracy is all about. This is what freedom of the speech is all about. This threat by Trump is designed to attack free speech and our right to protest by suppression of that speech and right to assemble. This move is also designed to get us fighting among ourselves so that we forget that he and his staff do not meet the constitutional requirements for their appointments. In other words, he and the ALT-Right are creating a diversion. He is creating rabbit trails or red herrings to get us distracted from his true intent which is to destroy our democracy. We must prioratize and multitask and fight on all fronts. We must not allow him to make us lose focus. We must resist the Republicans assault on our democracy and the United States Constitution. We must prioratize and multitask and remain resolute in our resistence to this threat to our democracy. We must always remember that WE ARE THE PEOPLE!
