JUDGE NEIL GORSUCH–A STOLEN JUSTICE POSITION
Neil Gorsuch’s nomination for a justice position is a stolen position and democrats should not forget it. Gorsuch will probably be confirmed because the Republicans control the senate. They have politicized judges appointments. This position has remained open for almost a year because the Republicans refused to even interview Judge Gardner. Republicans are hypocrites in now raising the issue of rules and civility in the Senate. Republicans are making up or selectively following rules. They are clearly abusing their power. We should take names and remember the offenders for the next elections.
Democrats should not lose focus or be distracted by the alleged conflict of words between Trump and Gorsuch. Their alleged conflict is just a distraction and a trick. There are things that are very troubling about Gorsuch’s appointment. The Hobby Lobby and other decisions are very troubling.
Gorsuch’s qualifications for the position are irrelevant. Gardner was equally qualified and his rulings are less troubling with respect to individual rights and other issues. This position belonged to Gardner or he should have been considered as the constitution requires. Gorsuch’s confirmation should be resisted or carefully vetted. The Republicans are doing middle of the night votes and trying to avoid any of the cabinet and the President meeting constitutional requirements for the position.
Whether Gorsuch agrees or disagrees with Trump is irrelevant. We must ask the critical questions about his nomination. He has made a lot of rulings which should concern us. A Scalia influence alone should trouble us. Scalia’s personal opinions verbalized textbook racism on some issues. His early writings are extremely troubling about his philosophy of interpreting the constitution and the Bill of Rights. Gorshuch might be on the court for a very long time. We should be careful and cautious about Gorsuch. The disagreement between Gorsuch and Trump may be staged so that we will reduce our resistence to his confirmation. Trump and the Republicans are not above games and distractions.
Gorsuch is a stolen justice pick and we should not forget it. His qualifications or the status of his relationship with Trump is irrelevant. Have we not been lied to by Trump and the Republicans? They want to distract us from our true objective–to defeat or delay this appointment until we know something about him. Anyone Trump offers should be suspect. Look at his other appointments especially his appointment for Attorney General and EPA. These appointment were designed to destroy the system as we know it. Nothing good will come from these appointments. We need to exercise caution with Gorsuch. He is a stolen justice position and it should not be forgotten.
