THE GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN—SOME THOUGHTS
The government shutdown is the cruelest, most un-american act of a President of the United States in my time and Americans will not forget him and the Republicans at election time.
I thought I would never hear an American President say, “If you do not give me my way, I will shut down the government and proceed to do that and refuse to re-open the government while tweeting “winning”.
President Trump has forgotten when he filed for bankruptcy. The Trustee set an allowance as approximately $300,000.00 a month. President Trump sued the Trustee arguing that he could not survive on less than$3 to 4 Million per month. Now he wants to extort the Amierican people and make the Democrats suffer by shutting down the government. He does not remember John F. Kennedy who said, “Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.” As President he is on a campaign to destroy American Democracy and the United States as we know it. Perhaps he is responding to Putin and Russia. He is using the shutdown to delay investigations of him and his family. He only cares about himself. He does not care about how American citizens are suffering. He is only concerned about himself. American Citizens are invisible people whom he has no concern. Let us look at his past.
Both the Senate and House were led by a majority that was Republican for two years. He did not make a request for a wall. He was given everything that he requested two times and he refused to sign the bills. He stated that only a wall would do. He has never submitted any bills to Congress. He is incompetent and uninformed about anything pertaining to the government. He is unusually cruel and malicious evidenced by ordering tear gassing of children and families, separating small children from parents, destroying the EPA such that toxic and hazardous waste is added to drinking water, rivers and the oceans. He is allowing offshore drilling He has made work places unsafe evidenced by increasing the radioactive levels in work places and mercury. He has brought or inflamed the divisions in our country instead of trying to bring the country together. He has no concern about the suffering and pain of others evidenced by the shut down. He only offered to put back what he had taken away partially. He did not bring anything new to the table and bragged about winning. He is a total fraud and the wall is a total fraud for security. He has not spent the money allocated to security for the border.
It breaks my heart to learn that he is intentionally bankrupting 800,000 federal employees making them lose income and health benefits. He does not care about anyone but himself and how he can pay the Democrats back for not voting for him. He says federal employees are Democrats and he must make them suffer. This is cruel. I saw a mother with a child needing open heart surgery. This mother was white. I felt her pain. My son had open heart surgery. I cannot imagine worrying about money or paying my rent when my son needs surgery. Moreover, she may lose her medical benefits if the shutdown continues.
Americans will remember President Trump, Mitch McConnell and the Republicans!
