FBI WHITEWASH—-A BLOW TO DEMOCRACY
The FBI supplemental investigation is a whitewash of Kavanaugh and a blow to Democracy.
RFK stated, “Every society gets the kind of criminal it deserves. What is equally true is that every community gets the kind of law enforcement it insists on. The fact that free men search for the truth is the essential difference between communism and Democracy. Lawyers have duties as citizens, but they also have special duties as lawyers. Their obligations go far deeper than earning a living as specialists in corporation or tax law. They have a continuing responsibility to uphold the fundamental principles of justice from which the law cannot depart.”
The Senate vote is one of the greatest blows against Democracy because it did not search for the truth, may be perhaps putting a criminal on the court and departs from the fundamental principles of justice.
First, the supplemental investigation avoided the truth. Republicans are engaging in “wilful blindness”. When I grew up in the South, Black women were raped by white men and there was no consequence for their behavior. It was not unusual to see biracial children who looked almost white. White women were alleged to have been given justice. This decision of the Senate no longer makes it appear that white women will be treated fairly either. Even white women do not support them when they come forth. The supplemental FBI investigation was designed to avoid the truth and to whitewash Kavanaugh. The girlfriend of Judge, the eyewitness, was not interviewed. She signed a sworn statement that Judge admitted to her that he and Kavanaugh had sex with a girl after she had been drugged. There may be other instances of lies on the part of Kavanaugh. They did not explore lying under oath about his drinking. He owed a large debt that was suddenly paid by someone. Who and how was this debt paid? There are allegations that this was in fact a large gambling debt. This was not explored. The entire yearbook and its implications about his character his not been examined.
Second, we may be putting a criminal on the highest court of the land. He was drinking at a very early age. How did he get the liquor. Did he have falsified identification to obtain the alcohol. Under the theory of parties, he is liable for the rape of every girl that they drugged and then pulled a train on at these parties. His letter means that he was a major player in setting up these illegal activities as he and his buddies were chipping in to rent the places for these activities.
Third, the appointment of someone who declares “what goes around comes around” and expresses his intent to retaliate in response to opposition against him in the approval process is a new low for the Senate. Having someone express the feeling that he and none of his actions should be examined by anyone and to do so was to do a “political hit job’ on him is evidence of his feeling of privilege and entitlement. He is after all a white male. No female has a right to challenge him or any white male. He talked about the Clinton revenge, conspiracy from left wing opposition group and Democrats who are angry because Trump won the election in 2016. This statement was so partisan and political that it was clearly disqualifying for the United States Supreme Court. Every lawyer should seek justice and should not depart from its principles. Kavanaugh departs from those principles. He rages about people trying to destroy his reputation and what he has fought for all of his life. People did not force him to participate in activities in which girls were drugged and raped. Per Judge’s ex-girlfriend, Judge and Kavanaugh also raped girls who were drunk. The FBI supplemental investigation did not interview any of these witnesses who would have corroborated that Kavanaugh and Judge are now lying.
Departing from the truth is an earmark of Communist governments. Engaging in wilful blindness and refusing to allow a full investigation of Kavanaugh to assess his fitness for SCOTUS is not Democratic. Americans are entitled to a SCOTUS that has an appearance of fairness and justice for all. Democracy demands no less!!!
