DAVID HOGG—MY NEW HERO
David Hogg is my new hero. The young can teach us how to deal with old matters that we have not handled well. David is my new hero because of the way he responded to Laura I. from Fox Network.
Some adults are using bullying tactics and fake news to deal with the student’s response to gun violence in their school. They refuse to be loving to those young people in their loss.
The violence at Sandy Hook brought me to my knees. I have not recovered. Conspiracy theorist purported that it did not happen. They found ways to blame the victim. Laura did not sympathize with David and the students of Parkland who were victims of the recent gun violence. She mocked their pain and loss. She mocked him because he was denied admission to some schools. I was valedictorian of my class with similar or higher scores and I was denied admission to some schools and one of the same schools that denied him admission. He is seventeen years old and adults who are loving will encourage students who have worked this hard for this long a period of time. At issue is why she and other adults are criticizing these students instead of encouraging them and trying to be loving and supportive to them in this time of loss. These student will suffer from this event for years to come. No one can take the pictures of blood and brains of their fellow students from their memories. It will be some time before these students obtain ego mastery of this loss. Some may never recover. They became proactive for change. This is positive. They should be supported.
David is my new hero because he is the only white man since Robert Kennedy who has expressed the understanding of the difference between the way the “privileged’ get reports from the news and the poor and others do not get adequate reporting. He made the connection and verbalized this to the world. I liked his vision and sensitivity. He can be president of this country one day if he continues to grow. He should be encouraged. He wants to be a better brother and countryman. When those innocent babies were shot down in Sandy Hook, I hurt for those mothers and all mothers who had young children. I could not imagine Parkland. David is my hero because of the way he handled Laura I. He attacked her advertisers. He did not just sulk. He was proactive. When you get angry with someone, you do not have to get a gun to settle the matter. You may use your words and encourage your friends to use their words as he did. He got her attention. She took a vacation and apologized. She should never have had to apologize. If she could not be loving and human or respond as a normal human being would respond, she should have been silent. We cannot support her conduct to children or to anyone. Bullying is popular but it should not be tolerated by anyone. David is my new hero because of the way he responded to this adult bullying him. This was beyond free speech. This was man’s inhumanity to man or child. It should not be tolerated by anyone. You go David and stand up for yourself!
