Court Reporter Update
It has been seven years since my trial and I have been unable to obtain a court transcript. The court reporters refused to return my calls. I filed a complaint with the Judicial Commission and the case of Bailey who removed my objections and court rulings from the record and did not record the hearings on pretrial motions heard after the jury was sworn was dismissed. Bailey had refused to sell me a copy of the transcript and would not respond to letters or phone calls. The commission ruled that her refusal to respond to phone calls or letters or to sell me a copy of the transcript was not misconduct. There is also evidence of criminal conduct in that the record appears to have been materially altered. She also appears to have made five different trial transcripts. Also, the record was deliberately altered and tampered with by someone and her name is on the document. William Felix Thompson was given a public reprimand for not responding to my phone and written messages and requests to purchase a transcript. He freely admitted that he never responded to my written requests or phone messages and he did not record hearings or the trial despite a motion being granted for all hearings to be recorded. Bailey did not record objections and pretrial hearings after the jury was sworn because she felt this was Thompson’s job. Thus I was denied appellate review because there was no record of objections and court rulings and of the pre-trial and post-trial.hearings. Thompson’s response to the commission was that he did not respond to me because he did not “take me and my case seriously”. In Texas, Black defendants are considered beneath the law and it is acceptable not to comply with rules regarding their cases. This practice must stop. This denies appellate review.
