CAPITOL ONE BANK IS NOT SAFE FOR ASSETS OR CASH
Capitol One Bank is not safe to deposit cash or use their safety deposit boxes. Bank theft of cash and assets is commonplace in their bank with no safety or protection for depositors or persons who bank with them.
To summarize, I discovered that someone had robbed my safety deposit box of all of my documents and replaced them with worthless paper on May 28, 2016. I tried to make a complaint with the bank and the manager refused to take a complaint. I returned to the bank on Saturday and verified that someone had stolen all of the documents from my safety deposit box. Again, the bank refused to call the police or make a report. In fact I was told that I must call the number on the back of the card to make a complaint. The bank would not make a complaint. On June 1, 2016, I called the number on the back of the card and was told that I must make a complaint in the bank itself. I asked to speak to the manager and was told that someone would call me back. No one called me back. I called the next day and was told that someone would call me back. I then wrote the President of the bank at corporate to make a complaint. Still no one called me back. I then went into the bank to talk to the manager. He told me that there was nothing that he could do because they have a third party who is hired to investigate these matters. The bank is no longer involved I was told. I then called the bank and was told that someone would call me.
A few days later someone named Salwa Anjum called me with nothing but lies. The first lie that she told me was that someone named Ruiz had shown me all the names and no one had been in my box. This was a total lie. She then told me that there were no discrepancies in the log in signatures. This was another lie. I have made a complaint about discrepancies in the signatures before. I was told the camera had been checked and that there was no discrepancy. When I told William, the manager, about this statement. He told me that someone had lied to me. The camera did not work and there were no images. Another teller told me that someone has a way of getting into the boxes because someone stole her mother’s jewelry from her safety deposit box. Miss Anjun continued and reported that someone had lied to me when they told me that a third party was investigating the theft. In fact, the bank will not hire a third party to investigate the theft. They will not check their cameras to see who might have robbed my box. No investigation of my box will take place because there is no way to find out who robs safety deposit boxes. Capitol One has had news reports that employees have been taking cash from cash deposits and safety deposit boxes in Houston. The reason the employee gave was that he had been denied a promotion at the bank. The bottom line is that the bank does not care about the theft of my safety deposit box and no investigation will be undertaken to see who robbed my safety deposit box of all of my documents. My loss of my documents from my safety deposit box does not matter to Capitol One. There is no way that absent a robbery of the bank, the key of the bank was not involved in the theft of my safety deposit box. Capitol One is not a safe bank to deposit funds or put items in safety deposit boxes. People can rob safety deposit boxes in their bank with reckless abandon and nothing will be done to protect you. Capitol One Bank is not safe to deposit cash of secure items in safety deposit boxes. Consumers should be wary of dealing with Capitol One Bank.
