Canada’s Approach

 In Uncategorized

The Canadian approach to the Refugee Problem is laudable.

The possibility of Refugees having dishonest motives to enter Canada or any other country is always present. The goals of ISIS are to destroy. They are not above lying about their motives to enter any country. I like the Canadian approach because their warmth and honesty in welcoming the refugees will set up cognitive dissonance in the refugees and perhaps the good ones will affect change in the angry ones so that they will live in peace or lose some of the anger. When people are accustomed to fighting all their lives or have been bombed all their lives, it changes their very core. They become angry and their response is to commit suicide or project their anger outward and hurt others. It is always better to approach others with love and warmth instead of fear. They may still try to kill you. However, you have met God’s requirement in your conduct: Love thy neighbor as thyself.

My knowledge of the problems or reason for this new Islamic State is limited. I will be trying to educate myself. I do not understand hate for hate’s sake or it is such an antithesis of the way I live that I choose not to embrace anything that espouses that kind of mentality. I do not understand or want to know a God of hate who might reward a follower for killing others. My God is a God of love who says vengence is mine. Slicing off heads is offensive and would never inspire me to embrace that type of group. This is unmitigated anger. What is the cause of this type of anger that only killing others can satisfy it?  I think we need to  seek this answer to this question. Therein may lie our solution. We must learn to live in peace with each other. I was so overjoyed to hear the Nobel Prize Winner call for a Palestinian State. Palestinians, Arabs and Jews must learn to live with each other and stop fighting. The world community must rise up and demand this. I am tired of hearing about war and demands for more bombing. Innocent people are dying in the process. The cost is too high to continue paying.

I like Canada’s  approach because it is a position of compassion. It was Canada saying to the refugees:  God loves you. You are too precious to lose. All life is too precious to lose. We must find a way to be loving and compassionate to each other. Canada’s approach is a start.
