I BELIEVE IN THE AMERICAN PEOPLE

For the first time in my life as an American, I love being American and I believe in the American people.

As a Black American, I have not always been proud to be an American. I have had good reason for this belief. This feeling began to change when ex-military stood up for Native Americans in North Dakota. It spread when people marched the day after the inauguration of the forty fifth President of the United States. It is spreading as citizens are coming out to defy his executive order to discriminate based on religion. The 1965 Immigration Act states that we do not discriminate based on national origin. We cannot allow him to disregard American values.

President Trump and the Republicans complained about President Obama using executive orders and not going to congress. Now they want to use executive orders in the same manner without the same reason. They are in power. President Trump has not been defeated or denied support by congress for his proposed actions. He wants to act unilaterally and in an abusive manner which trumps the constitution and federal law. He wants to do outrageous things to distract from his nominees for office who are unqualified and to the fact that he should be impeached by congress as he is in violation of the United States Constitution each day he is in office. We should not allow him to get our eyes away from the ball that he is a sitting in President in violation of the United States Constitution because of his conflicts. He refuses to resolve those conflicts. Each day he sits in office, he is violating the United States Constitution.   We should not allow President Trump to distract us with his outrageous behavior as he did in the campaign for the presidency. We should stand up for America and the United States Constitution and request that Congress begin impeachment proceedings unless he complies with the United States Constitution. I believe in America and Americans and I believe we can force congress to act and make the President comply with the United States Constitution. Write congress and march today for America.
